Blockchain division of the Japanese Line Corporation, which owns the eponymous messenger, received a license from the local regulator to launch cryptocurrency exchange, reports Cointelegraph.
Trading platform BITMAX will allow 80 million Line users in Japan to buy and sell crypto-currencies such as bitcoin, ether, Bitcoin, Cash, litecoin and XRP.
According to the company, the monthly audience of messenger Line is 187 million people worldwide. 50 million signed up for mobile payment service LINE Pay.
In July last year, Line launched a bitcoin exchange BITBOX in Singapore. The existing infrastructure will be involved in the new trading platform.
Also last summer the Line has launched its own cryptocurrency Link.
